Fifty years ago, the idea of women managing their own company would have seemed ambitious at best. Today, women are starting businesses at a faster rate than ever before, in fact, 47% of women started a business last year, compared to 44% of men, contributing to the nearly 13 million women-owned businesses in the US.
Why are so many women choosing this path?
A recent study shows 48% of women listed desire to pursue their passion as the number one reason to step into the world of entrepreneurship. Financial independence was second (43%), and flexibility was third with 41% of the votes.
More than 40% of VEST Members are entrepreneurs, and today we salute them by sharing a list of their businesses with the public. – Next time you want to buy products or services from women-owned companies, remember this list and share with your networks.
